Written over 2,500 years ago in Ancient China, this book contains the thoughts of Sun Tzu, a philosopher who considered warfare an art where the actual conflict is the last resort – wars are won long before they even start. As a big fan of history I’ve read this book back when I was a kid and the lessons I learned from it helped me win many a conflict in my life (and a sizeable number of board game matches), but this time I picked it up and read it with a mindset of an entrepreneur.
Although self-help books are not my cup of tea, I was delighted to find several great concepts that I've successfully put to good use. The writing style is plain and easy to follow, but the chapters are so loosely connected that it's best to go through a chapter, let it settle for a couple of days, and then move on to the next one. Another drawback is the abundance of anecdotes which are strikingly similar to one another, and are here to emphasize the "first things first" paradigm.
